About this piece
A kilim in hand-spun sheep's wool, dyed with plants: madder for the reds, weld for cream and peach, indigo for the blues.
It is built in three parts. The narrow border carries the running-water motif, once in indigo with a soft abrash and once in madder red. The wide border on a peach ground holds a chain of hexagons in green, red, natural white and blue, each with a small motif inside. The light blue field shows two large diamonds and eight half diamonds.
Double-sided weave, both sides can be used. Size: 101 × 156 cm (3'4" x 5'1").
Works in a hallway, beside the bed, under a desk or as a wall hanging. Care: shake out, blot spills with clear water.

Good to know
A light smell of wool at first shows untreated wool and fades after two or three days of fresh air.
The natural lanolin in the wool keeps dirt out. The wool gets no chemical finish.
